Dear Band Parents and Students-
 

The 7th/8th Grade Concert Band recently recorded an audition CD for the University of Illinois Superstate Competition—the most prestigious and selective Concert Band Festival in Illinois. In April I received a letter from the University of Illinois inviting the 7th/8th Grade Concert Band to perform at this year’s festival! This ensemble will be in the company of the state’s most elite concert bands and will perform at a premier performance venue. The festival will be held on Friday May 4th at Foellinger Great Hall in the Krannert Center for the Performing Art on campus.

What a Great Honor!

On Friday, May 5th at the University of Illinois Krannert Center's Great Hall the Edison Middle School 7th/8th grade concert band performed as part of the Superstate competion. The 6th grade concert band members were in attendance to be a part of this achievement of the Edison band program. The audience also consisted of a number of family, friends and a number of others who enjoy great bands.

To be invited as one of the best eight (8) Middle School and Junior High bands in the state of Illinois is truly a great honor and one in which the band showed it was deserving. The students performed brilliantly. It is incredible how these students keep getting better and better. All eight of the bands indeed showed why they are the top eight in the state.

Congratulations to all of the Edison Middle School band students, you continue to show your drive for excellence in your performance in band as well as your academic and community service. You make us all proud.
