This page lists the contests and festivals that the bands have attended and the results from them.

Both Jazz Band 1 and Jazz Band 2 each took first place at the Illinois State University Jazz Festival in their divisions. This is the second year in a row for this accomplishment.

Jazz Band 1 has been invited to perform at the December 2008 Midwest Clinic. This is an international, week-long convention that attracts thousands of visitors (Directors and others in the music field) each year. Held at the Hilton Towers in Chicago, this convention hosts professional development clinics, professional musicians, lectures, and performances. On the middle school end of things, the board of directors invites 2 middle school concert bands and 1 middle school jazz band from across the country. Because of the amount of paper work and planning that goes into an event of this caliber, all groups audition a year in advance.

The 7th and 8th Grade Concert Band auditioned for and has been accepted to perform at the 2008 University of Illinois Superstate Concert Band Festival - one of the most prestigious concert band festivals in the Midwest. This is the second year in a row that this group was invited to perform at this festival.

The Festival is on Friday May 2nd in Foellinger Great Hall of the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts (KCPA) on the University of Illinois Campus.

Congratulations to the bands for their performances at the IGSMA District Concert! They sounded great! The 7/8 Concert Band, as well as Jazz 2, earned a rating of "I"!

The IGSMA District Contest is a state-run Concert Band and Jazz Band contest that is held annually. Schools from around East-Central Illinois compete in it. Ensembles do not compete against each other, rather they are given a rating from the panel of judges observing the performances. They give a rating of I, II, or III, with I being the best. Those participants that receive a I are asked to participate in the IGSMA State Contest later in the Spring.

Congratulations to all of the Band students who participated in the IGSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest on Saturday, February 23rd. The students played their best and came away with numerous medals!
 

Edison's Jazz Band 1 took 1st place honors at the Eastern Illinois University Jazz Festival 2008. Congratulations to all of the band members!

The IMEA (Illinois Music Education Association) District 3 has auditions each year for participation in the IMEA District bands. Each year, there are students who audition in the Band category, the Jazz category or both. The talent of the students again showed with the number of students that were placed in either the District Band, the District Jazz Band (or both!). Congratulations to all the students who auditioned.
